Interview 1 2 | Pictures | The Conny Bloom files
2000
What got you into Rock n' Roll?
The pictures of Alice Cooper at the gallows pole!(laughs). I loved (and still do) the early Alice stuff.
I also remember that "It`s only Rock n`roll" by the Rolling Stones and "Ballroom Blitz" by the Sweet made a big impact on me.

When did you start playing?
Around the age of 12. I was influenced by guitar-players such as Jeff Beck, Rory Gallagher, Ritchie Blackmore and of course, Jimi Hendrix.

What bands did you play in before Electric Boys?
I was in a powertrio called Roadrats with ex- Hanoi Rocks drummer Gyp Casino. That later turned into Rolene. ( I also played with a band called Neon Rose for a year when I was 17 but nothing was released..) 1996 I played with Titanic truth.

How did Electric Boys get together?
I had been playing with bass player Andy Christell since school and made a drummachine demo of " All lips n`hips " . We got signed to Polygram and added drummer Niklas Sigewall and guitar player Franco Santunione. After recording the first album me and Andy went to America and got ourselves a manager and things started to happen.

Why did you break up?
Well, after the last American tour I felt the band was going nowhere and new blood had to be injected. We got " Slim" Martin Thomander in on guitar and Thomas Broman (ex-Great king rat), on drums. "Freewheelin` was released and went nowhere due to bad promotion and it was time to unplug.

What about Titanic Truth?
I got together with Tony Taylor and Nils Festader because I wanted to write with other people. Before we knew we had recorded an album for Stockholm Records. T.T. was like a journey through my record- collection ( Led Zep, Jimi, The Who, Cream, Ten Years After etc.) and the longest jam I`ve ever been involved in.

What`s it like being solo?
Lonely ! (laughs) No. I hang with everyone I play with so in a sense it`s very much like a band situation. What`s good is the freedom. If I wanna play bass or drums I can go ahead and do so.

How would you describe your album?
I can`t. That`s why I named it " Psychonaut ". I`m a traveller in my own mind and this is just the beginning of the journey.
However, I always look for good songs.

What are your current plans for the future?
Top priority right now is SilverGinger 5 ,together with Ginger
(ex-Wildhearts/Quireboys). There will be lots of gigs towards the end of the year (Japanese tour is scheduled for october) and I`m constantly writing stuff, so what`s not for the band or solo stuff, might end up with someone else..
